The NSW Department of Education is continuing to investigate the potential to reclassify Russell Lea Infants School (K-2) to a primary school (K-6) to accommodate the growing number of families in the Drummoyne Peninsula area.
In December 2015, the Minister approved Russell Lea Infants School to operate as a K-3 school during 2016. This delivered an interim arrangement and the decision to reclassify Russell Lea Infants School to a K-6 school is still pending.
The Project Reference Group (PRG)
The PRG has been established as an advisory group and will communicate project status and milestones to the school and broader community. The PRG will meet fortnightly throughout 2016.
The PRG is also the key stakeholder group providing school and community input into the educational principles, design proposals, the traffic management study and Concept Designs required for the Development Application and future community consultation.
PRG members are required to adhere to the Russell Lea Infants School Project Reference Group, Terms of Reference.
The PRG includes the Director Public Schools NSW (Strathfield), Russell Lea Infants School Principal, representatives from the Department's Asset Management team, a school representative, and a community representative.

In response to feedback during consultation from the broader community, a Community Representative was appointed through an Expression of Interest process.

Project Timeframe
The investigation into the potential reclassification of Russell Lea Infants School will inform a decision on the way forward. This decision will be communicated to the school and broader community by the end of July 2016.
